To minimise risk from noise and flying debris the public is to be kept a minimum of 8 metres from the demonstrator (more than the distance recommended by AFAG - 5 metres).

A further screen of fine netting may be set up around the operator, if necessary or possible.

A "blank" side (i.e. one side on which there are no onlookers and where the public is guaranteed to be excluded from) shall be part of the demonstration area to allow the operator to direct any potential large flying debris without risk to onlookers.

First Aid Kit on site at all times.

Organisers of events to allow sufficient space for the set up of chainsaw carving demonstrator - i.e. absolute minimum of 8 metres between demonstrator and viewing public.

Where this is not possible, absolute minimum of 6 metres, but demonstrator has to work behind an additional barrier (plastic mesh around 2cm min net, or clear plastic screen). In order to prevent larger pieces of wood that are caught on the chain being thrown at the onlookers.
