Goltho Woods Woodhenge
A sculpture for the Woodland Trust at the new planting Goltho
Woods, Near Wragby, Lincolnshire.
The uprights have leaves carved into
the inner face.
The table and the sighting hands all line up with the central
uprights to view the old medieval church on a nearby hill. The installation is
aligned on a Ley Line that connects the church with priory earthworks Cocklode
wood, earthworks at Newball wood, Reepham church and Monks abbey, Monks road Lincoln.
The
large table is built to represent a large medieval cartwheel. The woven screens
protecting the table represent the woven hurdles used for stock fencing. The sighting
hands cradle the old church as the viewer looks through them.
